I could break away
A couple of weeks ago Amber & I were in the truck going to my Mom's house listening to her favorite radio station, Z107.7. This is somewhat of a rarity because the music drives me batty but anyway, they were giving away Kelly Clarkson tickets to the 17th caller. You know what I'm going to say - Amber was the 17th caller! She also had a chance to win a car but she wasn't fortunate enough to win it too. Last night was the concert at UMB Pavilion and we had a really good time!
I'd only been to UMB once before and sat in the seats but our tickets were for the lawn so we arrived early. We ended up being in the center not too far from the front. Plus, because we were early the truck had a good spot in the parking lot. While we waited we had fun people watching and talking. The audience was almost completly girls and women with a few men thown here and there. If you ever want to know what the teens are wearing these days, go to a Kelly Clarkson concert. (Not that I thought anyone was trashly looking, just all the girls looked alike with their same style of clothes and hair). The opening band (Rooney - whom Amber said reminded her of the movie Ferris Bueller's Day Off - you know, Mr Rooney - Ed Rooney) was supposed to start at 7:30 but didn't even get out on stage until a little after 8:00. They were decent but Amber leaned over near the end of their set and said this wasn't her type of music. Kelly Clarkson got on stage around 9:30 and played until 10:30 without an encore. She sounded good and was very energetic. The best part was when she sang Breakaway and the whole audience sang along with her, swaying to the tune.
Wanna feel the warm breeze
Sleep under a palm tree
Feel the rush of the ocean
Get onboard a fast train
Travel on a jetplane
Far away
And break away
I’ll spread my wings and I’ll learn how to fly.
I’ll do what it takes till I touch the sky.
Make a wish, take a chance,
Make a change, and break away.
Out of the darkness and into the sun.
But I won’t forget all the ones that I love.
I’ll take a risk, take a chance,
Make a change, and break away
We high-tailed it out of there right at the end of her last song and made it to the truck before the masses poured out on the parking lot. I took the back way out of there and we were home around 11:30 (not bad, Maryland Heights to House Springs)after a quick stop to SnS for milk and bread (but walked out with $50 in groceries). I fell asleep almost as soon as my head hit the pillow because after getting up at 4:15am, this lady was ttiiiiirrrred!
